Chapter 19

It has been two and half weeks since being caught together in Padme’s Senate office, by Masters Windu and Yoda. Then, they had to listen to what the Jedi Council had to say about their decision on Anakin’s fate in the Jedi Order. Yet, they still had not heard from the Council, and it now has been four days, since they have returned from Naboo. Padme had just walked out of her office, so she could head for the Senate Chamber. As she was locking the office door, she felt the presence of Master Yoda.

“ Master Yoda, this is a surprise.” Padme kept her back to him and she could feel surprise on the Grand Master Jedi.

“ Padme, it is a surprise that you could tell that it was me.” Yoda came up and noticed that her back was still facing him.

“ Yes, I know that you are very surprised that I sense you. Not only can I sense your presence, but I feel the surprise and even shock that you have flowing through your body, Master.” Padme turned to face the little green creature.

“ Yes, shock and surprised I am.” Yoda looked up at the young Senator and gave her a smile.

“ Um . . . Master Yoda, I would really love to stand here and talk, but I really need to head to the Senate Chamber. There are few issues that I need to vote on today.” Padme felt two new presences that she knew very well. When she looked up from Yoda, she watched Obi-Wan and Anakin come up behind Yoda.

“ Understand I do, and hope we can join you today, in the Senate Chamber.” Yoda watched the look and even smile come to the young Senator’s face, when she saw Anakin.

“ Um . . . Sure. Then, please follow me, Masters and Jedi Skywalker.” Padme nodded to the three Jedi and then, she began heading down the hallway.

When they finally made it to the Chamber and to Naboo’s Senate seat, they found already sitting there was: Captain Typho, Dorme and even Jar Jar Binks, who now represents the Gungan’s in the Senate.

“ Milady, here is your tablet. Oh, good morning, Masters Yoda and Obi-Wan and Jedi Knight Skywalker.” Dorme realized Padme was not alone, when she saw the three Jedi coming onto the hover platform.

The three Jedi sat down in the back row, with Captain Typho and Jar Jar Binks. Padme and Dorme sat down in the front seats and waited for the Session to begin.

“ You do have two meetings today, after the voting. We also have to see what will be coming up next in a couple of weeks.” Dorme whispered to Padme, as she leaned over, so that way, Padme could hear her over the loudness of the Chamber. The other Senators were coming into the Chamber and to their hovering platforms.

“ Ok. Who are the meetings that I have with today?” Padme began to get that dreaded feeling again.

“ Well, let’s see. One is with Senator Organa and the other one is with the Representative of the teacher’s union on Naboo. Um, Padme, are you ok?” Dorme looked over at Padme and realized that she was not listening. She had the strange look she gets, when she feels that something is not right or is about to happen.

“ Um . . . yeah, am fine. . . .” she turned around and saw the three Jedi had the same feeling that she had felt too.

“ Are you sure, Padme? I know that look that you get, when you sense that something is not right.” Dorme looked at her friend, before turning around and noticing that the three Jedi also had the same look on their faces.

“ Yes, am fine . . . Just for the moment, I just felt something very dark, but it is now gone. Um, something just came up and I will have to cancel both meetings for today. See if they will reschedule for tomorrow.” Padme looked at her friend and watched her get out her schedule book and look at it. She saw that there was not anything schedule for tomorrow.

“ What if they cannot be there tomorrow?” Dorme looked at the schedule and made notes to see if the Senator could see Padme after lunch tomorrow, and then made notes for the Representative to reschedule for the morning.

“ Then, see when is the earliest time that they can have a meeting. I am sure I can see the representative tomorrow, but as for Senator Organa, if he has plans, then see what will be earliest time he can reschedule our meeting. Then, let me know.” Padme watched Dorme make notes, before the lights began flashing to let everyone know that the Session is about to begin.

“ Yes, Milady. I will do that, after we leave here, because I see Senator Organa’s office aide sitting with him right now.” Dorme looked over to the hover platform that was three platforms away from them, and saw the Senator and the Aide coming walking into the Chamber.

“ Ok, that is fine. Well, here we go.” Padme just nodded at the Podium rose from the middle of the room.

Everyone quieted down and took their seats. The Senate began going over what was being voted on and then everyone began to vote on the issues of this week’s Sessions. Once everyone had voted, they all began to go over all the things that will be brought up in the Senate for the next couple of weeks. At the end of the month, they will be voting again. Once everyone was dismissed, Padme and her party headed back to her office, where Dorme went to her desk and began rescheduling Padme’s meetings for today. Padme went with the three Jedi back to the Temple. Her and Anakin had to come face to face with the Jedi Council and to hear what they have voted upon Anakin’s fate and destiny.
